In case you missed it in Vanity Fair’s recent Star Wars issue, Lucasfilm has declared that Rey is now the official owner of Anakin’s lightsaber.  While Pablo Hidalgo specifically cautions that the color of a Jedi’s blade is not indicative of their moral compass as would be a House selection by Hogwart’s Sorting Hat, it would seem that the way a wand chooses the wizard in Harry Potter is a more appropriate analogy.  A lightsaber reaching out through The Force and choosing its owner may be the Sequel Trilogy’s version of Midichlorians.

During all the hoopla of the 40th Anniversary yesterday, did you happen to catch the official YouTube channel’s Star Wars show, or did you miss it like me?  It contains some Last Jedi details as well as an interesting Timothy Zahn interview.  But what really caught my attention was a quick inter-segment tribute.  As we’ve discussed recently, the bar for justifying Star Wars crossovers is exceedingly low.  With that, I fully expect Star Wars Deadpool crossover product soon.  Hit the jump for the video.

The question is debated on and off over and over, but the spinoff movies definitely make things interesting.  Do you watch in episodic order, or by release date?  Where does Rogue One fit in, and what about the cartoons that are considered canon?

Machete order?  I lean mightily towards release date order, but the idea of treating the prequels like a flashback is interesting…

Timothy Zahn may deserve the credit for saving Star Wars.  It’s been over 25 years since “Heir to the Empire” was published, and the enthusiasm over his literary trilogy resurrected the flat-lining franchise.

Read up about Leland Chee, the Jocasta Nu of our galaxy, and the guy responsible for deciding that his name is Pagetti Rook, not Weequay, or Queequay, or Queequay 2, or Queequeg.  Pagetti Rook.  It’s an actual thing.
